MaRynn Taylor says this is her "full-circle moment."

Country newcomer MaRynn Taylor may be only 19 years old, but her talent extends well beyond her years.

Newly signed to Black River Entertainment, Taylor’s introduction to the country music genre comes in the form of the touching new song, “Dads and Daughters.” The Michigan native, who now resides in Nashville, wrote the song as a gift to her father.

“When I was a baby, my dad wrote a song for me called ‘The Greatest Gift.” Growing up he would sing it to me, especially on my birthday,” Taylor explains. “Not only did this make me cry every year, but it also fascinated me and sparked my curiosity about songwriting. When I was eight my dad taught me how to write my first song, and with ‘Dads and Daughters,’ this became my ‘full-circle moment’ and my gift back to him.”

Arriving just in time for Father’s Day, the affecting new song is relatable to “Dads and Daughters” everywhere, but remains deeply personal to the country songstress.

“When I sing this song it’s so hard for me not to cry because the lyrics are like snapshots of times I’ve shared with my dad, and I just go back to those moments,” she shares. “The song is obviously inspired by my dad but also looks forward to what we could walk through in the future, like him giving me away as a bride one day. Plus, my dad taught me everything I know about music so to have all of those emotions in one song, is a pretty crazy thing. Not to mention, he actually sings background vocals on the last chorus.”

In celebration of Father’s Day this Sunday, MaRynn Taylor is sharing a special acoustic performance of “Dads and Daughters.” Debuting exclusively on Country Now, the clip puts Taylor’s pristine vocals at the forefront as she performs the song with just an acoustic guitar as her dad watches from the control room of Black River’s Sound Stage recording studios.

“I love the full production version of ‘Dads and Daughters’ but, there’s just something about a stripped-down acoustic version,” Taylor says. “Having my dad in the recording studio, with just me and my guitar, was a major moment for us and it brought out a side of the song that’s even more emotional for me. There really is no better feeling than knowing your dad is proud of you.”

Since moving to Nashville, Taylor has been soaking up all that Music City has to offer. She’s spent countless hours writing and recording while in quarantine and hopes to release new music in the coming months.
